Meet the Founder and Designer

Hi, I’m Kristi — founder and designer of Dahlia & Petunia.

Dahlia & Petunia grew from a lifelong love of beauty, nature, and the simple joy plants bring into everyday life. I believe gardening should feel thoughtful and inviting, like a natural extension of your home, not something that feels overwhelming or intimidating.

My background is rooted in both art and horticulture. I earned a B.A. in Fine Arts and Art History from the University of Cincinnati and spent years working hands-on with major growers supplying all the big box stores. That foundation led me to Charleston, South Carolina, where I spent a decade immersed in Southern gardening — designing container plantings for historic homes, assisting with estate landscaping, and later leading container design at Charleston’s largest garden center.

Those years shaped the style behind Dahlia & Petunia: classic coastal charm and a little whimsical — inspired by Charleston’s southern elegance and Florida’s tropical flair.

Now based in Punta Gorda, Florida, I create seasonal uniquely planted living flower arrangements and statement container garden creations designed for Florida living. Each piece is thoughtfully planted with ease, longevity, and beauty in mind — whether it’s a ready-to-enjoy planter or a custom design created for a specific space.

Today, some of Dahlia & Petunia Co.’s living creations are available at “The Wild Orchid” Gallery  in Punta Gorda, FL, along with more at local markets, pop up events, and festivals in South West Florida.
